I first want to thank everyone involved with Pligg. Its a great addition to the common man who has an opinion!
I read the policy and see that you can pretty much do anything with pligg. I have a radically different proposal that I am not sure how to express but I'll give it a try.
The
CMS behind pligg is awesome yet I think (I have specs to proove it) it could be used for monetizing niche systems. In my case, I would like to use the pligg as the foundation for the social network part of a patent-pending advertising network I am interested in launching in 2007. While pligg will not be the whole part of the concept, it seems like the functionality of pligg can be the core foundation for how people would buy and sell advertisements within the network. I'm not spelling out the idea in an open forum, so I guess what I am looking for would be the following:
1. Create a group/wiki of pligg developers interested in a very exciting and noble use of pligg. We would work together in a private open source forum to modify the pligg system to accomidate some radical new ideas which could insanely monetize pligg into something more than a bunch of lists.
2. I would share my ideas with this select group of pligg developers with a license to use the ideas in a new version of pligg so that the community as a whole can benefit and apply the ideas in their own niche market.
3. The pligg developers would receive credit and recognition as a key driving force for helping in launching the service I hope to launch early 2007. Depending on the level of vested interest in the developers or the limitation of assigning some features to public releases of pligg, I would also agree to some sort of revenue share for a certain timeframe as agreed by the developers from my service.
I know there are a lot of quacks out there and scams. Stop for a minute and think about the possibility of an awesome way to use the open source community to solve a huge problem (not poverty or hunger but close!) and perhaps take a bite at doing something unique, profitable and with a prooven business model that actually has revenue.
You guys know pligg and it would be easier to work with you and give something back to the community at the same time. I have radical modifications but it's the same pligg core underneath. If we succeed, you will literally be heros. This is a once in a life time opportunity for me, you and everyone who gets seriously involved.
I hope to hear from you. If you do reply, please state your level of involvment with pligg. Also, unfortunately an NDA will be required to be signed. The reason is not for the pligg features but for protecting the idea as a whole from a malicious coder who does not respect patent law.
Thanks for your time,
Ty
