I will admit that the bad behavior plugin for wordpress wasn't as bad as Joomla, but again, I never had too many comments anyway, so I assumed it was good. 
But on Joomla, it was plain and simple... it sucked royally. It blocked nearly everyone from doing anything at all. Nothing but problems on Joomla with bad behavior for me. As for Pligg, I am not sure how it will do, but I did install it a few weeks ago to test it out and it wouldn't let me register. This, of course, was using the generic method of installation and it wasn't installed as a module. I am not sure if that matters or not -- but test it out and let us all know if it works good for you. Maybe I'll give it another try.  |
Yes, there was one time when Bad Behavior blocked me out of my own site. It was a bit disconcerting. I don't remember the circumstances or how I reversed the problem. I think I reinstalled it. So it is not perfect, and it is possible for a knowledgeable security expert to write a customized version of Bad Behavior (that is what my pro did for his own site). It is absolutely mandatory for any large site to have such protection, if they allow visitor comments. I am positive that Digg, Delicious, etc. have developed their own versions of this protection, for without it they would have trash inundating their site.
I will test out this mod and let others know my experiences. Hopefully it works reasonably well, e.g. 99% success rate.
