So for me, CAPTCHA stops the bots, but the lazy SEO kiddies looking for a quick link get be the CAPTCHA. So, the verification email will hopefully be one more step to block unwanted posts. |
Not speaking on behalf of 9.9, but as for 9.82, I used recaptcha and it didn't stop fake registrations (nearly 600 per hour.) But when I installed the single step registration, it stopped the spam bots dead in their tracks. No problems since then. Of all the options in the newest captcha for 9.9, I rather like the mathematical question the best.
