"Homepage" in profile error

When a user submits a "Homepage" URL into a profile its gets rendered incorrectly. When you click a "Homepage" URL in someone's profile it appends the base_url to the beginning which gives (inevitably) a 404 error.

Example: My profile says "www.winelifetoday.com" is my homepage. But if you click on it that will try to open "http://www.winelifetoday.com/www.vivisjournal.com"

Tried it on Dealspy.org as well:

"http://dealspy.org/www.winelifetoday.com"

so this is somewhere in the Pligg code and I've had a few users point it out. Is there a quick fix for this? How do you remove the base URL and have it only use the "http://" portion?
