URL is invalid or blocked:

I get this
Code:
URL is invalid or blocked:
everytime I attempt to post a link, or story. short of disabling url validation I can't seem to get it to work again

using beta 8.10 I had it working after a fix sent to me for 8 rc2, but nothing now....

Go to admin panel > admin config > submit > validate URL. Set it to false.

is that the only fix right now? I'd rather validate it, or was it not being validated in prior versions either?

Sometimes certain servers have trouble with validating URLs and that's the only option right now. Read the description in the admin config again. I think it explains it a little better.

well I'll have paid hosting at the end of the week, along with hopefully a site to launch, right now figuring all the ins and outs before I drop real money on yet another hobby site

you can always download xampp. It's software that installs php+apache+mysql+phpmyadmin on your local computer. I use it to run Pligg on my computer for testing purposes. You don't have to go through all the trouble of uploading the files to a server everytime you edit something.

I've set the value under the Submit panel to false as stated above, but it still won't let me post an editorial. Any suggestions?

You have to change the value for requiring a URL. You may have already done this. I think it's in the Submit section, also.
