I think there is something wrong with characters in user names - I have a "$" dollar sign in a name and it's causing errors (404 not found)

It is also causing errors if there is a "dot" in the username.

Is there a way to not allow users to sign up with a username that contains characters which will breaK? Perhaps they can also receive some sort of helpful error message, explaining the issue and advising against using these characters. Until this gets fixed, I think this is the best way.

@PimpPanther: I got an error message when I tried the german special characters (v9.5). Isn´t it possible to mask probably dangerous characters like ".", "/", "-" and so on or the whole username to the system? |
