yes, but even if someone hasent, that wouldent be the problem, as its looking for $compile_dir instead of the actual name

i went back and checked, and i forgot i accidently deleted templates_c before and reuploaded it, so it wasent chmoded.... so yes, that was the problem

i changed the chmoded templates_c to 777, and i just got a page with no style at all.

I don't even have a folder to upload called templates_c where are you all getting this from? I can't find it in any of the downloads...

templates_c is in the distribution. Try downloading again from http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=176676

The templates_c folder has been in every release. Sometimes FTP clients won't upload empty folders so you will be missing the file. You can create it manually and chmod it to 777.

I also think some people are using their web based control panel to upload files.
Those are garbage, most won't allow file or folder permission settings. I've been using FileZilla and have never had a problem, so I would suggest using that.
