Performance and loading time experiment

You can analyze performance and loading speed of your Pligg site here:
http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/

Here is results I got with my Pligg site that is running on a fast dedicated server:

Connection Rate Download Time
14.4K 187.05 seconds
28.8K 93.92 seconds
33.6K 80.62 seconds
56K 48.69 seconds
ISDN 128K 15.47 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps 2.07 seconds

I will do some code cleanup now and will do test again to see has loading improved...

Hey guys,

By disabling JavaScript in Mozilla browser, Pligg site will load almost instantly !

Some functions will not work, such as moving/dragging "tables" from the left side menu.

Hey, but we don't even need those functions. They just slow down Pligg websites to a point of no return.

The key question here is --> How do we get rid off javascript that enables dragging of menu "tables" (or whatever you call them)?

The question is --> how do we get rid off JavaScript that enables dragging/moving of tables from left side menu? (I am refering to digitalnature template)

While I'm not sure on how to remove it, this does tell us that the javascript needs some preformance work... just stating the obvious?

Connection Rate Download Time
14.4K 87.93 seconds
28.8K 44.26 seconds
33.6K 38.03 seconds
56K 23.06 seconds
ISDN 128K 7.48 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps 1.20 seconds

Huh :). Only disabling some javascripts and drawing new template. I dont know why, but pligg loads slowly in IE, and better in Firefox. Maybe better caching.

HTML: 10878
HTML Images: 8664
CSS Images: 6395
Total Images: 15059
javascript: 80116 (!!!)
CSS: 6619
Multimedia: 0
Other: 0

Do anybody know, how to check how many MySQL querries pligg generates? What code and where I should paste?

I draw my own template and CSS-file, now I do not need a lot of classes in HTML-code, use cascading effect in CSS (".header span {}", or ".content div a {}", I don't know how to name it :)).

I drop all modules except Profile Extra Fields, Google Adsense Revenue Sharing and Embed Videos v0.3.

Javascript Effects Pack v 0.1 is so hard to load (80Kb, 3/4 of all content), but Private Messaging is not working without it!!! I'll try to solve this problem, but I think that my website do not need this feature :), better write a good defend for e-mail adresses or add emailing form on a profile page.

editinplace is a good thing too, but as for me, I can configure my site using phpMyAdmin, anyway I'll try to save this feature.

So, I do not optimize program side, only templates and configuration. If I do not need some features, I'll try to delete them.
