Interesting project. I would be curious to see a polished plugin come out of this : I would fork it to implement other notification mechanisms !

Also, a notification when it reaches the Published page.

So, there should be two options, one each for opt in e-mail notification for; Comments and published story.

I haven't been able to get this to work, using either the original mod or my modded version of the mod

Any one know how to get it to send the email? If you can get it to send the email, people can sign up to alerts using my mod.

If we can then modify the sign up page script so that when the user puts their email address in it automatically adds it to the public_email field in your database. Does anyone know how this would be achieved?? This would mean they are auto signed up for it BUT they could opt out by deleting their email address in their user profile from the public_email field.

NOTE this could only be done in conjunction with my mod to change the public email into a site communication email so people can't see it.

This is a really good feature, so people will come back and not only write one article and never come back

Still Not Working

I still can't get this to work. Is there anything else you need to do to get it to actually send the emails?

Has anyone else get it working or is it just me?

I can get it to send the e-mail but the obvious problem - it just alerts someone to the fact someone commented, not where and if you've posted a lot of articles, that's not much help. Twould be great if it were just like a forum notice function "Someone replied in... *link*"

The idea is something I love, the option for notification of comments but it needs a little tweaking. Still, definitely a step in the right direction - so, much appreciated that some people are working on it.

Yeah, I'd really like to get this working somehow, and am willing help in anyway I can.

In my opinion, it is one of the most important features that is missing, as it brings people back. People will sign up, post, and then forget about it. (As Darkonen said) But if you can keep them engaged, your usage growth will increase a great deal organically.
