Generally people copy and paste the url they will send. Which creates the problem of http://http://www.google.com kind of urls. How about checking the url first if it contains double http:// s and correcting it automatically? I don't know how to do it in PHP. Can anyone help?

What I do, if this helps, is I added

onclick="javascript:this.focus();this.select();"

to the text field. so that when a user clicks on the text field, it will highlight the text in the box. tada

Nice trick. I also edited the language to say "did you forget to add http:// at the beginning?" (PLIGG_Visual_Submit2Errors_TryAgain) So it is more user friendly now.
