Joomla already offers forum integration, if you could integrate Pligg into Joomla you'd kill two (or more) birds with one stone.

Joomla is possibly the biggest CMS out there, a huge community base and lots of plugins...

I don't think Pligg really needs a forum anyway, the best idea would be to just release a style for phpBB that is the same as Pligg's, that way it will offer site consistency, unless you actually want to integrate the user base, which I think might be difficult unless you make Pligg an addon for phpBB.

Fact is in both cases, due to the support and developers other popular projects will always be ahead of this project, making it difficult to keep up with integrating latest versions, leaving many sites open to abuse.

This was partly my point...

but then you could argue that phpBB is kind of a CMS in some respects.

I for one would defiantly hate to see phpBB in every version of pligg, but I wouldn't mind the option to integrate phpBB into Pligg or Pligg into phpBB as an optional addon, downloaded separate.

I think it would be interesting to see Pligg as an addon for a well established CMS such as Joomla, but i'm sure its only a matter of time if the demand exists.

This mod doesn't really add phpBB2 into pligg, it simply logs you into phpBB automatically when you log into pligg. Same with logout and register.

This has been added to the SVN for Pligg as a module. It's disabled by default and if you REALLY don't want it you can just remove the whole module folder.

It's also still a work in progress. If the user already exists in phpBB and the passwords don't match you won't get logged in and currently changing your password in pligg does not change the phpBB password. Plus it still needs a little security work.

You need to set up the template so that the registration link in phpbb goes to the pligg registration form. At least this is true from the version that I was using. So this will require some light phpbb template modifications.

Not a bad idea... so it simply offers site wide logins?
