Is it possible to generate a friendlier error message indicating the database is unavailable?
For example, here's an error message from my Pligg site saying the DB is not available:
Warning: Error establishing mySQL database connection. Correct user/password? Correct hostname? Database server running? in /home/myhost/public_html/mysite/libs/db.php on line 87
Warning: mySQL database connection is not active in /home/myhost/public_html/mysite/libs/db.php on line 119
Here's an error message from a similar site running Wordpress
Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

I agree that the warning and error reporting has to be more elegant or maybe we don't know how to turn that feature on. In any case, the error for me is on line 330 which says Too many connections in /libs/dbtree.php on line 330 |
