This module creates users in PhpBB automatically when they register, synchronizes info when it is changed from the Pligg admin or from the Pligg user's profile and allows user to login automatically to PhpBB when they log in to Pligg. The admin "convert all" feature allows admins to add all Pligg users to PhpBB at once.

There is only one problem for integrating existing PhpBB users:
As soon as passwords are encrypted in Pligg , this feature can't make their PhpBB password same as in Pligg. They can't login to PhpBB with same login/password manually, they can login there from Pligg only, until they go to profile and update their passwords. So you should try to force a password update from Pligg or force them to log in to Pligg every time.

Installation:
  1. Upload the phpbb folder (zip attached to this thread) to your /modules folder.
  2. Navigate to Admin > Modules and activate the phpbb module.
  3. Navigate to the phpbb module settings page (a link is placed on the admin homepage)
  4. Enter the database information for phpbb. In the attached image example the database name is pligg_pligg and the prefix used by phpbb is phpbb_
  5. Set the cookie name (probably phpbb3_sv889)
  6. Hit submit to save your settings. Now when you create a user in Pligg it should become a phpbb user in your forums.

As long as you have the settings correct this module will be working with 1.0.0 RC1 and above for new Pligg registrations. I suggest that you test this out prior to putting it on a live server to see how it works. Follow the instructions carefully for the first field by looking at the example in the image.

Hi,
i will try to integrate Pligg and PHPBB on my site shortly. Since as far as I could make out, one needed to login/register from Pligg for this module to work, I am thinking of removing the login form of PHPBB with a link to the Pligg login page. Is there any way I could ensure that once the user logs in or registers, the Pligg page will send him back to the PHPBB page he was visiting?

Or did I get the module wrong and it can actually act as bridge between Pligg and PHPBB, so that users are added to a common database if they sign in to either Pligg or PHPBB?

Since mine is going to be a new site, I won't have the problem of old user migration.

maybe this is a dumb question, but how do I install this mod? Do I just install phpbb3 seperately and then fill in the info into the pligg admin module panel?
I saw your picture but I didn't see any instructions.
Please help.
Thanks.

Yes, you would install phpbb3 separately and then connect the databases through the Pligg module, I haven't had any time to document it thus far.

Okay, I have phpbb3 installed properly, but how do I "connect the databases through the Pligg module".
Which folder do I upload the phpbb mod files to?
How do you get the Phpbb module picture that you have listed there to show up?
Sorry, I must be missing something, but I'm a little stuck.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

First of all, thanks Yankidank for your help so far, your instructions hit the nail on the head.
I was able to install everything properly (I think), but for some reason I don't have any users (new or old) being added to my phpbb forum.
It's like there is no connection at all, but I'm not getting any errors.
I've double checked my settings and they all seem to be correct.
Could it be a chmod issue?
Am I supposed to of installed the phpbb in a certain folder?
Install the phpbb module in a certain folder?

If anyone has a working version of this with the current versions of Pligg (1.0 RC2) and phpbb3 (3.0.4) please let me know how you did it.

Thanks in advance.
