SFS Global Antispam by ChuckRoast The SFS Global Antispam module allows you to check your users against a database of known spammers. You can also report new spammers into the global database directly from the Pligg Admin > User Management. The database is maintained by stopforumspam.com You will need an API Key which you can obtain freely from here. If you find this module useful please donate to them here. Installation: Unpack the file and upload the folder sfs_antispam to yoursite/modules folder. Edit line 9 of modules/sfs_antispam/templates/sfs_antispam_index.tpl with your api key where it says APIKEYHERE Activate the module through the Pligg Admin > Module Management. Notes: If you are using Pligg 1.0.3 or previous versions please add a spammer to the database before using the Pligg Killspam feature. This will be unnecessary in Pligg 1.0.4 and future version of Pligg CMS. The API allows for 5000 hits per day. This module makes 2 connections per user management page view. So you can review 2500 user management pages per day about potential spammers. See the attached screenshot for an explanation of how the module works. Find more great modules by this author here. I just found a small bug in this module. I'll release a fix probably sometime tomorrow.

Thank you, this will be very useful.

| You are right, the keyword right now is "Will" be useful. While this module will work, the bug I discovered in it today conflicts with a Pligg admin feature.. I need to get that taken care of. I hope to have it all straightened out tomorrow. Hiowever using it will not hurt your site. |

I fixed that little bug and re-uploaded the module. It's available from the first post. I moved the placement below the users information. |

The current version of that file does not show any such thing on line 9. There's a closing tag there. Line 11 has a URL containing an API key. I just replaced that one with mine. |

The "Add user info to global Spammer database? " link in sfs_antispam_index.tpl displays right above other links in the user administration page. When administering a Pligg site from a Droid (or similar device), there is an increased risk of inadvertently adding a user to the database. There should be a confirmation step to prevent inadvertent submission. We have added it on our site by simply inserting javascript into the link: <a ... onclick="javascript:return confirm('Are you sure you want to do this? If you are wrong it will really suck.');">Add user info to global Spammer database?</a> Hope this benefits somebody! We absolutely love this module. |

Chuck, Thank you so much for these free modules that help fight spam. I've been getting tons of bad spam bots from India and other countries sending porn submissions, which I immediately list as spam. I'm going to make healthy changes to the site, add modules and rig soe anti-spam code, MacGyver style! Yessssiiiiirrrr! (smile) Thanks again, home slice! =) |
