Some questions on Pligg

Well, almost done now. I've been messing around with Pligg for over a week and the site is almost read to launch.

History Nexus / Websites

There's a few more bits to do, like write a proper introduction, but it will soon be done.

A big thank thank you to the developers. I'm going to start a new job on Monday, and once my finances are back into the black I'll send you a donation. It looks like I'm going to be around for some time to come.

I've still got a couple of minor points though. I'm sure most of them are easy to fix but as I'm not a programmer it sometimes isn't so easy for me to alter the code without professional help - most of which I have found on old threads in this forum.

1.Firstly, as there anyway of turning off the site for users from the admin end? I can see a time come not long after launch when I will have to make some radical reappraisals of the categories. I would to carry out such work with the website temporarily down.

2.In regards to the title on the index page, is there anyway of just having the website title? At the moment it reads “History Nexus / Websites” where I would like it to read just History Nexus, but with the other page titles still automatically generated.

3.How do I remove trackback from the submission process? It's not needed for my purposes, besides most people have no idea what to do with it anyway. I can see where the text is removed or altered, but not the file for the removal of the whole thing.

Hopefully somebody will be of assistance.

Cheers,

Andy

wow, cyan background - I never expected it - it just burned my eyes - for a while I went blind. My best advise is use colors that are pleasing as background - white is the best choice in that case.

1. you could use a temporary htaccess to redirect people accessing from a IP that does not belong to you - please I am not an apache expert - but sure a simple google would give you such a htaccess modification code

2. Do you want all pages to just have "History Nexus"? in that case you can edit your pligg.tpl <title> tag to set teh text always.

3. submit_step-2.tpl remove the following:
Code:
{if $Submit_Show_URL_Input eq 1}
			<label>{#PLIGG_Visual_Submit2_Trackback#}:</label>{#PLIGG_Visual_Submit2_TrackbackInstruct#}<br />
			<input type="text" name="trackback" id="trackback" class="text" value="{$submit_trackback}" size="60" class="form-full" />
			<br /><br/>
		{/if}
- I have not been aware of an easier way for doing this.

That reminds of of this blog entry that details how much energy the world would save if google changed their background color to black, which is more energy efficient for computer screens.

Thanks for responding.

I've taken advice about colour :)

Placed a white background in the main wrap.

Just to get back to this point.

What I mean is is that the dynamically generated titles are great.

But what is has created for the index page is a title that reads "History Nexus / Websites".

What I would like is to have the just index page as History Nexus (without the / Websites), with the rest dynamically created.
