yeah good point! I didn't think of it like that. But these are step you can take.

Google, yahoo w/e analogy makes no sense sorry. pliggsites.com is a great resource for spammers. but when we get all the spam issues sorted then that won't be a problem will it?

Chuck, where can we download and install those you mentioned above? I only have Akismet link and working on installing to my site. Are those you mentioned above resolved this issue? Also, where can I get/buy this blackball module?

Antispam is included feature within Pligg
Spam Kill is an included feature within Pligg
Blackball is available in Pligg Pro

Another thing you can do is block the bot in .htaccess all you need is the IP and pligg logs the IP of all registrations.

Chuck, how we can do this in .htaccess if the bot is using different IP's on his script. Is there a way we can figured out the correct IP of the bot from the list of IP's he is using? See the screenshot of the my DB where I cut and pasted the important IP's and the user.

Screenshot below.

joehunk I tried finding the user names or new members from that bot the way you did but I can't. could you explain how to get a screen where I can check the boxes and delete the fake account?

I found pligg_users and I have a few options there.

Browse, Structure, Search but none of them bring up a list with check boxes :(

Hi Bbrian,

So are you suggesting to not change your register file?

Thanks

Dan

yeah don't do what I deleted I said to do lol!

Does that make sense :)

I recommend doing what chuck has suggested.

E-mail confirmation and also this new mod Ash is working on.

Worked great for me, I have no more spam users and no more spam comments :)

bbrian,

Login to your MySQL Admin, click the Db you use for pligg. Click on pligg_users and select/check user_login and click Browse. Then in the "Sort by key" dropdown, select "PRIMARY Descending". This will bring you all the new users registered. Check the user you want to delete and click on the Delete icon on the bottom. You can also delete them individually on the list. Do the same on pligg_comments > comment_content.

Be extra careful because we are dealing with db here. You can do the shortcut I believe in Admin Panel, not sure yet. Check with your site. This is the quickest way if you are familiar working with DB.

See my sample screenshot.
