HELP! I'm getting spammed!

OK, someone is spamming my site with some kind of script posting a bunch of comments. How to I stop them? How do I turn off registration?

PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm getting the same thing and I can't keep up on it they are too fast all .info please help

For now I renamed the register.php to stop the bot. I need a better solution though.

How did you do that? well I can assume I guess change the url in header and the name of the register file?

Actually, my method was a bit crude. I when it the FTP side and renamed the file for now. I haven't done anything else yet as I'm trying to clean up the spam.

I'm sorry to report that my site is also being targeted. More comments every few seconds and more users...

There HAS to be something we an do?

yes for now until admin and dev do something rename your register.php oin your ftp

Also you can mass edit comments using the Comment Management link in your admin cp

A very basic Akismet anti-spam module is available here. Please let me know (in that thread) if it works. Also, it only monitors NEW submissions and comments, will not do anything about existing stuff.

What happens when the bots start making posts with the 100++ members it signed up?

What are we going to do Ash can we delete these users some how? not 1 by 1 but in a mass delete?
