HELP: Chinese display problem

Hi guys,

I tried plig 7.2, 8.2 and even 9.0 on my web site, neither of them work properly with Chinese title, tags, or comments.

There are always some "?" or other weird symbols in them. I have searched this whole forum and read all post about Chinese display and could not fix this problem.

My enviroment:

PHP Version 4.3.10
Apache 1.3.34 (Win32) mod_gzip/1.3.17.1a
MYSQL 4.1.12a-nt

Could this be possibly caused by any of Php , apache or mysql above? too old version?

haha i think i fixed it!

in file libs/db.php:

I added the following just before

$this->select($dbname);

$dbcharset='utf8';
mysql_query("SET character_set_connection=$dbcharset, character_set_results=$dbcharset, character_set_client=binary");

then it works!!! :-)
