Any possible way to upload image + insert avatars in stories

hi all,

I am working with social network site using pligg framework

1) Is it any possible way to upload an image along with the story description similar to dealigg.

2)Any possible way to allow the user to select an avatars from default folder during registration similar to PHPBB forum registration..

suggest any mods or related topics to make it possible..
