Friendly URLs

Hi

Can anyone help me with the htaccess file so that we can show urls's in a more search engine friendly manner?

It must just be a simple rewrite but am unsure of the syntax I would need.

Thanks

Andy

Yep, close. (Still "story->category" and you should get rid of the ? in the url, but I guess you were about to do that ;))
Anyway, thanks a lot for this wonderful improvement =)

Actually that's not true.
The URLs in Chinese or Japanese show up fine when indexed by search engines. If characters get replaced by something it messes up.
Believe me I really know this well.
It depends on how it's set up.

but in mod_rewrite if urls have any non latin characters it will give 404 ! in nomral urls it's ok but mod_rewrite no !

maybe it's about apache config so if this is option i think it's beter if not i can hack my pligg to use id not title

or we can have somthing like wordpress "Post slug" so we can enter an translated title just for urls

Like I'm stressing to you.
I use mod rewrite on many of my Japanese sites with no problem.
It just depends on the way you set it up.
So yeah if people can't set it up correctly it will come out wrong.
It's not a Mod_Rewrite problem it's a problem with understanding what not to do so it doesn't mess up double byte URLs.

My main forum has Chinese Japanese Russian & other languages in the URL for tiles no problem...
