I have recently started my pligg site and have been wondering on a few seo issue with pligg. I am not talking about any url issues as that has been pretty much covered everywhere in this forum. Yesterday i was speaking to friend who is a seo consultant which brought up a few issues.

My Concerns:
1) Pligg based sites content frequently change and therefore it is much harder to getting in the serps for keywords you are aiming at. Have any of you encountered this in your pliggs.
2)Meta keyword - By default there is no meta tags for keywords,description. I understand in the yget template there is a include for meta.tpl file which doesnt exist but you can create one to add keywords. I was wondering if instead of having a single meta tag file what about it being customised to each category or page type.
3)In story optimisation,should you help your user write better stories and not copy pasting of reference site so as to avoid duplication issues.
4)Robot.txt - What sections of the site should you disallow bots on, have we got any pages that we dont want bots to visit. I think admin should be disallowed.
5)When google bot visit my site it came up with a few no follows which go to out.php?story=somethingsomething. When i visit that page there is nothing there would anyone be kind enough to elloborate the purpose of these.
6)LINK BUILDING - I have only recently started my venture with pligg and know a bit about seo so please do correct me if i was wrong above. I am finding it a bit difficult at the moment trying to link build which is definately challenging. As a pligg community i am sure we can round up a lot of new pligg or blog site that pligg member own who would like to build up links. I propose if we have enough member we can arrange some kind or triangular link building to get all our pligg sites better ranked. If you would like to join please pm me.Once i have a list of pligg or blog sites intrested i will post a list and we can work out how we will link build. I want to avoid reciprocal link building. However if you would like me not to post on the forum but instead start a mailing list pls add keep private. Please dont send any adult site.

I'll answer what I can.
1. SERP's shouldn't be a problem with Pligg. It is user generated though, so you don't have the control of the contents of the page which you would with an author-created site.
Google loves tags and categories though. Having previously used an CMS like Joomla, the SERP's dramatically improved after adding a tags component.
2.This has been sorted out with the new template.
3. Well, it's up to you, as the webmaster, to encourage your users to create better content. Not sure what Pligg coding would do to help that.

5. I'm not aware of an issue with nofollow. Perhaps there is, but I haven't come across it yet.
6. As for link building, this isn't any easier or harder for a Pligg-based site than it is for any other site - CMS or hand coded.
Personally, I don't have anything in common with other Pligg sites other than it is the same CMS that I have used. I see not point in exchanging links with others just because they both use the same CMS.

Pligg does rely on user-contributed content and that's the GOOD part, not the SEO problem. Google, at least, is #1 in feeding with content, and if your content changes frequently, then just sit back and feel good about it. It will grow a lot in Google's eyes and in other search engines as well. I'm emphasizing more on Google here because it relies more on content.
As for the other SEO related question, well, waiting for a one that knows better Pligg's ups and downs.
