Shortening long urls

When people post URL's in the comments of a story (like on this story: http://b0mp.konspirasjon.net/story.p...ublic-Domain-2 ) I get a long horisontal scroll if the URL's are really really long. Is there any way of shortening them down? Like some forums do, removing som parts in the middle (on display only not for real) and just adding a few dots? Sort of like this, if this url had been to long:
