categories not working

Having a problem with categories not functioning correctly on a new install of pligg.

1) when I open any category, I see all news. categories are not displayed under their chosen categories.

2) Friendly URL's for categories - When I choose False - nothing changes. categories are still friendly not the category numbers (this may be causing problem 1?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK point 1 is because in admin database language was changed.
I used SC for this, not sure if this is correct but is what is used for the simplified Chinese translation of pligg.

Anyway by default in the database the language is assigned with `category_lang` = 'en'. Therefore if categories were made before this was changed it breaks the category sorting.

Therefore for articles to show in the correct articles you need to make sure the setting in admin for databse language, and the attribute in Mysql for the articles matches.


2) i still have no solution for. 9.7 non SEO friendly URLs do not seem to work, even after setting in admin.

story works fine as: http :// www .site.com/story.php?id=1

category however does not work and shows: http :// www .site.com/index.php?category=apple

Can you be a little bit more explicit about the solution to the category troubles? What does "the setting in admin for databae language mean"? and The attribute in Mysql for articles matches?

btw, does it make sense to change the DB lang?

today I have accidentally pressed on category in sidebar. And I was surprised. Category don't work. I have tried categories in post, and all work. I see url in both events:

why in first event upcoming.php? How can I fix it? earlier all worked
