No Categories after Restoring

Hi there,

I backed up my files, database, and avatars from my local host (e.g. localhost/pligg/abc/) and tried to restore the files at another directory (e.g. localhost/pligg/def/). When I go to the new directory, the categories are not showing up. These are the steps that I have taken to restore, please let me know if i am missing something:
-Change my dbconnect.php to my new database settings
-my_base_url to localhost, my_pligg_base to /def

I also read the postings of the members with similar situation, but found no help.

Thank you for your help.

I had this problem when I upgraded to 9.6. If I remember correctly, I had to assign the category values manually, with "all" being set to "0". I did this in phpadmin in the MySql database. Make sure you know what you are doing and can reverse the modifications, since I am a novice providing this advise.

Thanks to not2serious, I have found a potential resolution to this issue.

In my categories table, I set my category_auto_id and category_id to 0, and set category_enabled to 2. This seems to be working in my site, as my categories are showing up in Admin and on sidebar. When you set category_auto_id, category_id to 0, and category_enabled to 0, you will only see the categories in Admin and not on Sidebar. Also, you can't add new categories. Once you set the category_enabled to 2, you would see the categories on the sidebar as well.

Pligg 9.7 - the same problem after moving database. Categories on site are hidden. And not show in Admin panel. And can't add new category.

What the problem in?

SOLVED!

Phpmyadmin not correctly imports the dump and instead value=0 in category_auto_id it writes the bigger value. I'm fix it to 0 and categories began to show.

Maybe somewhere else it is the same bug.
