Can you install 6.01 directly or use 5 then upgrade? I'm new to pligg/installing and I'm having trouble getting it running. I'd like to use beta 6.01, but the tuturial to install the DB uses sql file only found on beta 5. Do I add the sql then install beta 6.01? or intall 5 completely and then upgrade to 6.01? So far I've added the sql and categories using beta 5 sql. The next step i assume is to install it. Not sure how to start that. Sorry for the basic questions, I've looked all over the forum and couldn't find an answer. Thanks for the help! btw, I think you guys are doing a great job.

you will need to upgrade the 5 database to a 6 database (i dont think there are many changes, but run the script anyways) upload the files of 6.01 (including dbconnect.php, edit it so that it connects to your database) then go to yoursite.com/install and click update. that should be all you need!

I've seen this mentioned in other threads, but not answered. Am trying to do a fresh install of Pligg and it's saying dbconnect.php is not writable. That's because it wasn't included in the zip files I downloaded. Several threads suggested using prior version's dbconnect.php, but can't find where to download 6.0. Last resort went to SourceForge which has 5.8 as the latest version. Trying that....

You need to get the dbconnect.php file from older versions. Simply set permissions to 777. When you're done, set back to 655. If anyone needs help installing, email me at info@islandseven.com.
