Can I turn off comments and remove existing comments? If so, how?

Comments Management

Look at:

Admin>Comment Management. This will let you delete comments

Admin>Configure>Comments. If you set Number of comments(sidebar) to 0, the comments may not show up in the sidebar. Have not tested this particular setting - let me know if it works.

Not sure if there is an easy way to turn on/off comments.

Turning off comments is atp not possible unless you remove the code for displaying it and allowing for submissions. But what else do you plan to show when user reaches the story page?

And to manage comments use the Comments management panel available for admins as explained by techsmeks.

Have you ever tried captcha? If this doesnīt work maybe the community is motivated to develop a simple calculation module like wikipedia uses from time to time.

its not so much spam and it is the language that users use when they comment and then they would fight among each other with the comments. this is why i want to disable it altogether.

If itīs rude language it was suggested to provide a module containing a strong word list that will substituted them with stars. Donīt know what the current state is.

Or is it a general language problem like in Belgium?
