The XML Sitemaps module has been excellent; however, I recently ran into a problem with assigning the correct priority value.
Google returned the following Warning message:
All the URLs in your Sitemap are set to the same priority (not the default priority). Priority indicates the importance of a particular URL relative to other URLs on your site, and doesn't impact your site's performance in search results. If all URLs have the same priority, Google can't tell which are more important.
Does anyone know how to correct this?
Any guidance will be appreciated!! :-)

Just refreshing this post as I still cannot figure it out... :-) If you know how to correct this, then please let me know!! |

Suddenly noticed this last night as well. Across all 13 maps |

Google gives me the same warning on 5 of my 7 sitemaps. Need also help on how to correct this. Thanks |

I did an upgrade to the new version of site maps (got by me somehow) and resubmitted maps. All warnings gone. Try upgrading and resubmitting. |

Its my second time receiving the warnings from google. Resubmitting sitemaps didn't solve the warnings. It will eventually set to OK then will return back to warnings the next time google download the sitemaps. I'm using 0.9 |

I am using the latest version too. I downloaded it from patchlog. I can't wait for a solution!!! :-) |

There appears to be a bug with Google, because MANY people are complaining about this problem across the web with their different sitemaps. It has been occurring over the last 30 days or so. Nobody has an answer yet -- but it is evident that Google has changed something. Many sites are also complaining about not getting their pages indexed so much either as before, and many have dropped in the rankings due to this bug (or change?) These aren't just Pligg sites either, but ALL DIFFERENT SITES from different webmasters. I know my site has dropped in the rankings and right now it is so sporadic, one week it's kicking butt with loads of traffic and the next week it completely disappears with no traffic whatsoever! This has been happening recently, within the last 3 weeks. It's killing me with this cat and mouse thing Google has going on right now. I wish they would just fix the problem already. I am almost tempted to get rid of my sitemap if the problem doesn't get resolved soon. |

Yep, I give it another week and I'm dropping the module...does more harm than good. The re-install/resubmit did not help. The warning is still the same: All the URLs in your Sitemap have the same priority. Here is a snippet from Patchlog: I think, for sites using cache and the RSS importer or sites that don’t have much traffic or many active users voting all the time it would be a good idea to modify the script like this: on line 154: instead of $v=(time()-$link->date)/60; use $v=(time()-$link->date)/3600; you should clear the cache if you use it and resubmit the sitemap to google after this modification. IF you still get warnings just increase the divisor ( 3600 ) until it’s ok I’m guessing that if you use a cache set for 1 day 3600 should be ok, if not you could go higher Source This makes little sense on a site thats over a year old. Votes should have nothing to do with it. |
