      The Auto Thumb Module for Pligg allows users to easily select and set a thumbnail for their story submissions. Thumbnails from the story URL are automatically retrieved and shown to the user. Alternatively the user can add their own via file or URL.

      • Automatic Thumbnails from hundreds of sites!: Now with automatic thumbnails for hundreds of sites! Video thumbnails as well as image thumbnails are seemlessly set without the user having to do anything at all.
      • Supports Almost Every Site: If the page has images, we'll find them
      • Support for previewing your new thumbnails: When a thumbnail is selected it will automatically be previewed in the new preview window in Pligg 1.1.4
      • Facebook Open Graph protocol: When someone posts a link on facebook to your site, Auto Thumb will give facebook the thumbnail and description for the link.

      • Setting of Thumbnail from story URL: Auto Thumb will find all the images on a page and display them in a user friendly manner to the user.
        All the user has to do from this point on is to click a thumbnail that they feel represents their story and the thumbnail will be automatically uploaded to your site and set as the story thumbnail.
      • Filter out small images: Small website images are automatically filtered out from selection so the user sees useful images. They can override this to show all images on a site if they dont see the one they want.
      • Editing of thumbnails: If at any point the user wants to change the image, simply edit the story and you will be able to edit the thumbnail as easily as you set it.
      • Upload your own: The user can also set the thumbnail for a story by uploading a picture of their own.
      • Add thumbnail vial URL: The user can use a link from a picture on the web as the thumbnail.
      • Video Plus Integration: If a story url is in from a supported video website, the story thumbnail will automatically be set to the video for the user.
      • Playing Videos Inline: As with the Video Plus module, videos will be able to be played inline of your website inside a fancybox window when clicked
      • Crop thumbnail images: All images can be cropped and resized to the same dimensions to fit in nicely to your template design.
      • Link thumbnails: Thumbnails can link to a variety of places, the original link url, the story url or open the full image in a fancybox
      • RSS Importer Module support: Auto thumb module can automatically set a thumbnail for feeds imported through the rss importer module.

      • Filter out small images: You can set the minimum size an image needs to be when showing images for thumbnail selection to the user. This reduces the number of images shown to the user so that they dont get swamped with lots of small images. The user can always select to see all available images.
      • Thumbnail size and quality: Changing the thumbnail size will re-generate all thumbnails in the correct size.
      • Placement in Template: You can customise where in the template the thumbnail is shown based on various template module hooks.
      • Thumbnail Link: You can set whether the thumbnail should link to the story page or to show the full image in a fancybox javascript window.
      • Allowed image types: This sets the allowed file types when uploading your own thumbnail.
      • Maximum image file size in KB: This again is for for when uploading an image.

      This module installs in the standard way. It does require the jquery module to work.This has been included for you in the zip file for your convenience.
      1. In the zip file you will find both an auto_thumb folder
      2. Copy this folder to your pligg/modules folder
      3. In pligg module admin section, install the Auto Thumb module

      Version 3.x works with Pligg 1.1.4 and newer
      Version 2.x works with Pligg versions: 1.0.x to 1.1.3.

      PHP: Some features require php 5.2. If this is an issue for enough people I will work around it.
      Javascript: This module uses jquery. This can conflict with other javascript libraries which can affect Auto Thumb from functioning correctly. Ensure your template is not using other js libraries such as prototype.

    Auto thumb - embed/ly problem

    I already installed auto thumb on my page. Generating and displaying images works fine, but embed/ly videos cannot be displayed. Once it works, few minutes later it does not work.

    Can anybody help me what might be the problem?

    Firefox vers: 7.0.1
    Pligg vers: 1.2.0
    Php vers: 5.2.13

    btw: I already contacted the vendor of Auto Thumb, but until now I did not get any response.

    Hi Peppolone, it seems it is supported. Contaced the vendor of AutoThumb and after few days I got an answer that based on my attached video about the problem he was able to repeat the problem. It seems he is working on the solution. I hope

    Hey I just bought this for my upcoming Pligg launch. It appears to be real high quality I'm excited to implement it into my template.

    I'll post back here with results/questions and also my experience going through the installation process. I think the biggest downside would be dealing with the backup process if you ever have to switch onto a new server/web host. Imagine backing up 1000s of these thumbnail images!

    But in truth the functionality and aesthetic appeal are far too much to pass up.

    does this module slow down the site???

    i mean it scans the whole site for images so isn't it possible for pligg site to response slowly??

    anyone having any issues with this module?? plz reply ..i am also interested in buying this nice module

    help with finding a line of text.

    i just bought the auto thumb module from hot property design..

    it is everything i was looking for.. works like a charm. there is just one thing i cant find.

    i have translated every part of the plugin by editing the lang.conf file.

    but i cant change this:



    i have found the text "sorry, we couldnt find any pictures for the link provided" inside the lang.conf file.. and changed it.. uploaded the updated lang.conf file. and it still writes the same english sentence.

    is it some sort of embedly external feature, and that is the reason i cant edit that specific line of text ?

    or could someone point as to where i should change it if i am looking in the wrong place ?
