Maybe this thread can act as the suggestions thread for Mollio-beat. Here is one suggestion.
Ability to have a truncated description on the main page but the full description when you open the post (on the page where the comments are). This is impossible at the moment because there is only one template file for posts.
Podcast feeds for published, queued, and user-submitted, and user-published feeds.
I'm going to allow users to post up to 5 music files (using 5 extra fields) and I would like these files to be put in enclosures in a podcast feed. While there aren't many audio focused pligg sites yet, adding podcasting support would surely make pligg a great platform for collaborative audio blogging, sharing, etc. I know that someone released a podcast mod a while back but it is only for published posts and only takes mp3s from the article link field. I would like to be able to go into config.php and designate multiple submit form fields (track1, track2, track3) as fields that should be put in enclosures for the podcast feeds.
Better breadcrumb. Make more things show up in the breadcrumb such as queued categories, tags (ex: home > tag "cool"), spy/sneak, top users, login, register etc... Might as well make everything show up in the breakcrumb right?

Gragland, 1. Truncated Description. Yes, I was thinking about something similar, here's why: I would prefer a short description on all story submissions. This allows for more news on a page and keeps things neat and tidy. I would prefer a more in depth story description on the comments page if for no other reason then to get a better Google index. We must however be careful not to allow too much cutandpaste content for plagerism/copyrite issues. 2. Podcast feeds. Yes, absolutely. If you saw my pictures at www.storylister.com you noticed the "listen" link next to comments. This feature is a must and I am pushing hard for it. 3. Breadcrumbs. This is a difficult one. Yes you are right, the breadcrumbs should be everywhere, otherwise, what's the point? At this stage however this is a low priority. User navigation should be first priority. ~3d |

Awesome! One other suggestion is to combine submit page steps 1 and 2. Now that the url field can be made optional (and for my site my users will probably hardly ever use it) it would be nice if it wasn't a seperate step.

To react on your suggestions: 1. Truncated Description. Agree. also agree with copyright stuff 3d said. Added it on the MB2.0 to-do list 2. Podcast feeds. I don't care much about this feature, but if you guys like it, we should make the feature. 3. Breadcrumbs. Totally agree. In every new MB release the breadcrumb is working on more places. So yeah... working on it!

Some more suggestions. 1. A feature I would really like is to have xspf playlists for each page that has an rss and podcast feed, so that I can embed this xspf media player in my site: http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/ Maybe you could even make the xspf player part of your package. It would definately be really cool to have a pligg media player that you can just turn on in the config file, which automatically loads the xspf playlist for the current page your on. 2. If you could make it so that posts displayed both their category and their tags that would be great. At the moment you have to choose one or the other. 3. Is it possible to display posts that have the tag "whatever" AND are from the category "technology". If so, if you could create a freindly url for this, something like www.mysite.com/category/technology/tag/whatever. EDIT: Another possible way to do this would be to make it so that when you choose a category the name of that category is also added as a tag. Then you could just show stories tagged as "whatever" and "technology" (with a friendly url like www.mysite.com/tag/technology&whatever". 4. It would be really nice to be able to sort comments by rating OR by date added (ascending and descending) with a little dropdown box. 5. Right now when you click someones username it does a spiffy ajax fade in of "view profile | add to my friends | block xxxxx". If you could make an option in the config.php to turn this off and just have it link directly to their profile that would be nice. 6. In my opinion, having the user tabs underneath the other tabs and then the sub buttons for the users tabs inbetween both sets of tabs is a little unintuitive. I think it would be better to just have a main tab called "users". When you click on the users tab it displays the top users. When you click on someones profile it also highlights the usertab but displays the persons profile. Similar to this website: Top Users - http://www.indianpad.com/topusers.php and Profile Page - http://www.indianpad.com/user.php?lo...ockmarketindia. The only difference from that example I suggest would be to put a "top users" link on the right side of the orange bar when viewing someone profile so that there is a way to switch to the top users page from a profile page. Do you see what I'm saying? 7. On the top users page, if you sort by a category in which a user has a zero then that user gets dropped from the table. There is no reason to have it do this. All users should remain in the table no matter how you sort it. Last edited by gragland; 05-15-2006 at 07:06 PM.. |

An awesome feature would be a little box that displayed recently pligged posts by your friends, which you could then sort by date or by number of pliggs (just counting pliggs from friends). This would be a really valuable feature because it would allow you to instantly find posts that are popular among your sub community of friends who probably have a more similar taste as you then the whole community. I don't think this would be too hard to implement since there is already a friends list. Pligg would just need to retrieve the names of all your friends and display a combined list of all the articles they voted for.

At http://www.inboxnews.com/blog/2006/0...-via-3dkiller/ 3dkiller talks about this feature. --- 5. Recent Story list. Below the login / profile box, I want to see recent stories (queued / breaking) listed displaying headlines only. This way we can show much more fresh news on the homepage. Nothing frustrates me more when I visit a news page then a) all the crap, animations, heading bars, big pictures, etc. or b) very little news. The problem with digg is, there are only 15 stories showing on the frontpage. That’s fine for stories w/descriptions and all the icons, comment text, etc. But wouldn’t it be great to also have recent headlines, in smaller text over on the right side of the screen. It wouldn’t get in anyones way, but it would be there if you want more. Wouldn’t this be better then that BIG categories box and RSS feed box. Move the RSS feed buttons to the top of the page, and to the story box. As for the Categories, move them to the navbar, where everyone else puts them. That’s where user expect to see it. ---- Is this on the drawing board? I do not see it listed on the MB 2.0 list. I can try to work on this if no one else is dedicated to it. How do I join the team to help? Thanks, Jeremy |
