Bookmarking with a visual flair at Poots.com (elgg + pligg)

I want to thank everyone on the forums that helped me as i built this site. I welcome you to poots.com where users can create cards to share and collect within the community.

Anyone can post and comment on cards anonymously, but that content can be toggled on/off via the anonymous button at the top left of the site. There is a similar feature for worksafe content. By registering with the site, you gain access to a very customizable profile thats built on a heavily modified elgg heart.

We just went live, so we are experiencing some kinks/bugs and there are many features we had to hold back and are still slowly deploying. Please visit the site in firefox, i have some open css bugs on other browsers and ie6 is currently just blocked out right.

Nice website, so this was made using the pligg + elgg bridge?

No, this was done quite more simply. Elgg and pligg are both sharing the same database. So we just made custom calls to the respective tables we needed. Then the cookie was modified to login you into the pligg side when you log in thru the elgg login page.

Then pligg pulls the usericon from the elgg side. I was the designer/concept on it and i worked with two amatuer developers who really learned alot as we put it together.

We will continue to release updates and more features for the site (right now we are working on an elgg widget that will display a number of your saved entires from the pligg side)

And we have hopes by xmas of releasing a little game people can play with their collected cards.

Oh and i saw the little 'Game' icon - when i first saw it i was like "i wonder how that would turn out"!

Please how did you integrate the logins of pligg and elgg which platform is running the profiles etc.
