Is PLIGG inherently Slow or is it just Dreamhost ?

This site has only been up for a couple of weeks and it now getting a small load of traffic but if barely crawls along.

It is hosted at DreamHost as recommended.

Site is http://www.trustme.com

Is this an anomaly??

i cannot speak for dream host, but i do know that pligg 9 is slower. There are many improvements coming in the next version that will speed things up a lot.

I think the biggest problem is caused by an overabundance of unnecessary javascript. We're specifically working on improving the load times for the next release. There are some tricks you can do to cut down the page load times, but for now there's no quick way to do it with Pligg. Give us a couple more weeks to make some more improvements.

BTW Pligg.com is now hosted on a DreamHost server, so we are an accurate representation of the load times you will get with their hosting.

my site's speed improved quite a bit when i removed the javascript from the sidebar that makes the different elements collapse and expand (digitalnature template), you might just want to try that for now.

Pligg is slow. Gzip doesn't help. I've tested it on several servers, thought something was wrong with my server, but no matter what I did, it's still dead slow. I am looking for an alternative software, something that will keep me interested, but this is not working.

I did that too, it sped my site a little bit, but still slow.

Thanks for the ideas...I must say I'm thinking DreamHost had something to do with it because it seems much faster tonight...I can TOTALLY live with the current speed now

I'm sorry that you aren't having any luck but my test site loads instantly for me. It loads much faster than sites such as digg.

Alot of the problem is probably DreamHost.
They can be terribly mind numbing slow.
And lately their performance has been extremely bad
even by DreamHost standards.

Just to let everyone know. Pligg.com and the forum is running on DreamHost.
