I'm 1 stage away from having WPMU and Pligg integration, although in an indirect root since I use vBulletin as the master user database, and feed other things off that. I actually looked at elgg recently (it looks nice) and I guess that in effect what Im doing is creating an elgg type system from more specialised componenets - a method I actually prefer, since all in 1 scripts will never have the same level of detail as taking the time to properly combine more specialised scripts. It has sometimes been a pain though, I admit, but worth it in the end! |

Using Expression Engine in the way that was described in the OP is a violation of their terms of service, so you can cross that one off of the list. If it were me, I'd go with WordPress MU. If you have a 'bugdet', go with the package that is already developed by Edublogs (I think that's their name). Everything is ready to go. Another option is to us the vBulletin Blogging system if you have your Pligg integrated with vB. The blog system should be released soon (but you can demo it at vbulletin.com), and they are also developing an SNS profile system. vBadvanced, and vBlogetin also have blogging systems that integrate with vb. |

| WordPress MU
An integration of Pligg with WP MU would catapult Pligg into the stratosphere as far as user acceptance is concerned. But for Pligg to gain wide acceptance, a simple "Post to <pligg-based site>" script from any blog is necessary. The way it might work is for the reader of the blog to highlight an extract, click on "Post to <pligg-based site>" and, if the reader is already logged ino the pligg-based site, the article URL would be carried over, the title would be copied from the blog site, and the highlighted extract would become the content of the pligg content -- all with one click.
