As the topic says...just curious...i've heard drupal can be used. Wondering if that's possible and are there any other options also?

Pligg has grown more powerful and better than any other alternative voting system. FYI Pligg is now a complete CMS.

If you are looking for a simple, clean and easy to use system, then I would recommend PHPDug.
Drupal is also far superior to any other CMS out there but not as simplistic as PHPDug

Angry Pligg is just toooo sloooow

Sorry to say but Pligg cannot handle the 284000+ links and many more tags in my database anymore. Pligg is terribly slow even with only a few hundred links. The front page takes some 45 sec to load and I'm sitting just a few hundred km away from my dedicated server which is hosted by a premier European provider.

Does anyone have experience with the Drupal>Zen solution? Looks shaky to me as well...
