Digg.com and potential issues with pligg?

Just wondering if anyone knows more on this:

From Digg.com:

"DIGG, DIGG IT, DUGG, DIGG THIS, Digg graphics, logos, designs, page headers, button icons, scripts, and other service names are the trademarks of Digg Inc."

Does it mean that I cannot use "digg this" instead of "vote"?
However, there should be no issues having a domain name that says: www.*something*digg.com.

Any experience on this?

Actually, having digg in your URL will cause Digg to send you a Cease ad Desist and basically shut your site down. And Yes, they will do the same for having "Digg this."

They've already shut plenty of sites down with digg as part of the URL.

however, you can use an "igg" ending and still be ok to my knowledge.

This is true. However, they don't do this because they are bad people. They have to do this by law in order to keep their trademark on the word "digg". If they don't actively protect it then a judge will rule that "digg" has become part of public domain and digg.com will not be able to enforce it in the future. This happened to aspirin.

Too bad. Sill... I registed a .com domain and trademark mydomain.com in my country (not USA!) I host with DreamHost -US based. Wondering if this still works.
Can't I have a website nissansucks.com without getting a cease and desist from Nissan?

I just realized: I already have a blog
www.nikon***.com and www.iphone***.com.
I will just continue with my **digg.com
If Digg does anything to my business, this means that they are not just protecting their trademark, they are protecting their business and using the TM as a pretext.
This will make me hate them forever.

You can remove 1 g from it to sound more 'dig', and as far as the nikon and iphone things - those companies do not sue anyone for infringement but Digg does.

Digg also censors stories they don't want to get out. That's what made me find pligg and start my site. Someday, digg will be gone, and zlonk will be the place to be. hehehe

I think you are completely missing the point. It is critical for companies to protect their trademarks so their brand and image are protected. From your attitude, I assume its ok for me to launch a web site with a url that says www.*something*diggsucks.com. You ok with that?
