Abou running a pligg site!

Hello

While searching the sourceforg I have found this wonderful script! I am very much interested to run a site with this script!

But I have couple of questions if I run a site is it mandatory to keep footer link?
Suppose I have seen http://trustme.com/ who are using this script did not keep
footer link of Pligg!

And what if I distribute the scripts to my clients ...What exactly the rule?

Please let me know

Thanks
Rezwan

There is no requirement to keep the link in the footer but we'd appreciate it if you would. We have said before that if you donate any amount of money that we don't mind if you remove the link.

What do you mean distribute the script to your clients? A quick tip would be to read the license located in LICENSE.txt

I will not mind to donate for this really wonderful script;

I have read as well the license (http://www.affero.org/oagpl.html) but it is always difficult to understand detail

I found this:

1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Program's source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact all the notices that refer to this License and to the absence of any warranty; and give any other recipients of the Program a copy of this License along with the Program.

You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee.

Again About distribution I meant that I will provide installation/design support
and also If I distribute this script to a client and ask donation for PLIGG.

Is it a problem?

Thanks

What the first part says is that if you distribute a copy of the Pligg software you need to leave all notices of the Affero License in it.

The second part is saying that you may not charge for the code but you may charge for physically transferring it (putting it on a cd etc etc. I don't really know if "downloading" falls under this or not). It also mentions that you may charge for warranty services on top of the code. You are allowed to sell your services for Pligg. You can see many people are offering their serves in the classifieds on this forum. You can find the link at the top of the forum.
