MySQL Dumps...

I think what I have to work with is a mysql dump. I have a folder of a datebase that used to exist...

There are some weird file extensions, but no .sql to upload to phpmyadmin...

there is .opt (1) and many .frm .MYD .MYI

Any idea what do do with these to restore a database?

What do the contents of those files look like? How are they formatted?

Most of them can't be read, but a few contain bits and pieces of familiar things in the database.

if you have access to your mysql directory open the directory data inside of it and then create a folder in it and name it what your database name is. Inside that folder is where the .myd and .myi files are located. This is how it is on my localhost so I'm not sure about your server. Once again, for me it's C:/wamp/mysql/data/<database_name>/myi and myd files

Alright thanks, I forgot about the data being stored else where on the system. I had to find it. Running Slackware I found it under var/lib/mysql if anyone ever reads this for reference.
