Forsythe Park is in my mind the most beautiful spot in all of Savannah. Thats what made it such a perfect spot for the hundreds of students and residents of Savannah to participate in the epic "Battle for Forsythe". In the middle of this beautiful urban park was a large group of college-aged kids wielding axes made of cardboard and armor composed of bubble wrap. It reminds me a lot of the CareerBuilder commercials that aired during the Super Bowl this year. Police and college security stood by to watch the battle and I have yet to hear about any major injuries.
The two main rules for participating in the battle were as follows
- You must first sign a contract before entering the battle. This contract prevents you from suing someone if you were to become injured during the battle.
- Your armor and weapons must be made up of ONLY the following items: cardboard, bubble wrap and duct tape.
