VB.net

I was talking to a friend about a potential job offering and he said to brush up on my VB.net skills since that's what they mainly use at this company. I thought sure, that sounds easy enough but as a did some googling I found so many things related to visual basic, vb.net, vb, .net etc and have no idea which is which. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find information regarding "vb.net"? It can be tutorials, advanced material, or even something for a person who has never used it before.

Thanks.

Apparently my friend said vb.net and asp.net are very similar and now it makes more sense because this company builds web applications which wouldn't fit at all with using a language like visual basic.

Microsoft are now offering express editions of the visual studio IDE to allow students and hobbyists to use these tools. They are the cut down versions but you probably won't feel the difference.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/

The great thing with vb.net and vc# you can make windows application or go into developing web applications.

You Get a copy of the sql server to play with the databases.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/

Then this page. microsoft has done a great job putting tutorials online.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/ex...r/default.aspx

Select which track you want, and go through the tutorials. You probably want to start in tier 2.

Hope these help.

For the last few days I have been watching the tutorials on www.asp.net. It's a totally different environment then I'm used to with php. The IDE does a lot of the code for you and you only have to write the VB or C# in the background to do some of the scripting. I just need to learn some more VB
