hehe.

i love it how we are all so very much on the same page here. my first thought would be about the tagging system.

and how the potential for doing a tag search might become a bit hectic. as the querry pulls, users, files, blogs, photos AND all the tagged entries from the pligg side of the world.

if designed well and formated correctly it could look great.

I have been tinkering with elgg and i find its out of the box install to be far from user intuitive. The elgg site itself it can be hard to find the links to communities and then back over to plugins and etc.

But I will certainly be watching this project and helping wherever i can.

Voting plugin for Elgg would not be very good as there are many parameters needed to maintain voting, votes, discarding, etc - the whole Pligg system was for that.

@Beatniak:
I was thinking of using a branch of current SVN of Pligg itself to develop the bridge code, but having a total branch out also seems promising - provided we all still continue to work at both places (Pligg and Pleggs).

some answers to the questions:
1] Gather all who can help in this via code/testing
2] making Pligg even better with blogging system and better social networking features
3] We need to identify people who can contribute via code for now
4] Yank and Ash should be throwing their ideas/suggestions on this bridge.
4a+b] If it were to become a branch of Pligg - we can have a child forum in here itself - so all will remain in one place under one hood.
5] Money is not a point as of now - as when we have some promising stuff - we can think abt expanding it with more support.

let me know your thoughts.

One thing that I was thinking about doing in Pligg was to automatically give a blog to the admin. In almost all Pligg sites you see a link to a blog that's usually running Wordpress. What if Pligg had a basic blog built in? I think it would be a great idea, personally.

I think blogging topic was already bought up in the brainstorming http://forums.pligg.com/showthread.p...ng#post1196 1 - but unfortunately some turned it down.

Btw when there are already existing blogging platforms that are far advanced and packed with more features - I donot see a need to rewrite it - we can just use/bridge it.

Not sure what the current status is, I have been very, very busy lately, buried under 1 million school projects (including a SL soccer tournament organized by one of my classes)...

I will have a research meeting with my developers next week and I would like to know what is the current status here. I am definitely interested in helping to pushing the ball ahead but the question is if we have a strategic plan yet. First of, what is the intended direction:

1. Simple bridge?
2. Pligg Fork?
3. Elgg Fork?

I think that my hazy idea is to work on an ELGG fork with Pligg as a front and core feature... Any feedback to this?
