Show Stories Differently on the Front Page and the Category Page

Hi,
I've search the forum and have not found anything on this subject. I would like to show my stories on the homepage as a grid view and then have them show in the normal list view on comment and category pages.

I've tried many things in the backend but can't seem to get it to work completely.

Has anyone tried this or done something similar?

As a matter of fact I just implemented it yesterday on one of my dev sites.
On the Published and Upcoming pages, I show only the title and the "posted by and time ago". The rest of the data is only displayed on the story page and the user pages (from the profile: saved, submitted, voted, etc.). In addition, the displayed data alternates colors every second row.

I will post the code to do it tomorrow on this thread.
