Over at www.PlugIM.com I just finished developing a new feature that allows users to link their own RSS feed to their account. PlugIM then visits their feeds periodically and automatically submits new feed entries. The user is allowed to select a category for the feed as well as tags and how often the feed should be checked. Also the admin has the ability to approve or deny newly added feeds to avoid being bombarded with spam. The mod uses Magpie RSS and a handful of cron jobs.
PlugIM is currently stuck on Pligg 7.2 so I don't have the mod available for 9.0 as of yet which is pretty much the purpose of this post. I was wondering how much interest there is in this mod. This is a huge mod and I don't want to take the time to port it unless there are a bunch of people who want it.
If you're interested in it, please let me know by replying here. If you'd like more details on the mod, see the following post on the PlugIM blog: http://www.plugim.com/blog/2007/02/n...ed-submission/ Also you're welcome to create an account to see the interface but unfortunately I won't be able to approve your feed unless it happens to be internet marketing related.

| Mod: Users Can Add Their Own RSS Feeds |

I'd definitely like seeing this mod. If you are going to try and port it over to 9, could you maybe try and install the latest nightly build when you're porting it? That would save us time having to port it from beta 9 to the latest nightly code.

I'm looking forward to using this mod. I'm hoping to redo my old video guide Silversow.com into a place for video content producers get their stuff seen. Kind of like VideoSift, but more geared to episodic video from professional producers rather than YouTube stuff. This kind of mod would be perfect for me! |

Please don't anyone get their hopes up for this. I will do my best to get it done ASAP but I'm swamped with work on PlugIM right now. But since I know so many of you are interested I will do my best. If someone really, really, really wants it immediately, there's always a slight possibility I could be persuaded... ![]() Right now I'm working on a subscription mod where users can subscribe to stories on PlugIM with the click of a button and then any time someone comments on that story, they get notified by an email that there's been a new comment. Also users can set their account to auto-subscribe to stories they post or comment in. It's taking up a lot more time than I had expected because I'm using some AJAX on the link so it switches from "subscribe" to "unsubscribe" without a page refresh. It was quite a learning experience.
