Yes Sir, I tried the above and the better captcha fonts are in the root directory but within the folder: better_captcha_fonts.

On the source page of my browser I do see the random numbers being generated but no image in the browser but only the alt text "captcha"

I also tried the install/troubleshooter but it says that there are no errors.

Hi Dollars5,
The error has gone.
I enabled the captcha in the Admin Panel and cleaned up the templates_c folder and the captcha images are visible now.

I got it to work by following the method of cleaning up the template_c folder. Do you know why this happens?

template_c is the compiled templates, at times, the cache detects that the latest compiled is already present and will start to fetch from there, if something on templating part fail to update - simple step is to empty the template_c template cache.

step-4: Modify the validation.php with proper database settings

I'm not sure if this step is what's giving me problems but what exactly should I be modifying? Everything seems to work fine until I login with a new account. The login button now takes me to a blank page.

I would say this should be an integral part of the pligg base code and not an addon module, Helps fight spam registrations no end.

Hey dollars5 - ts_image.php works great on my home server, but on my site, I get this:

The image "http://www.drunkenscholar.com/ts_image_old.php?ts_random=76712519" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

My host is lunarpages.com. I have no clue why it's behaving differently. I think I'll go back to the old ts_image.php for now, which is a bummer.

Do you have a PHP file with extra debugging to help me find this problem?

Did you upload the font files? I guess the server has some issues with the fonts that we used - I suggest you to replace the fonts with standard ones - may be that should help. I would also suggest to contact your host to see if they have the latest version of GD Image Library for PHP installed - may be that might also be an issue.

The ts_image.php - does not have a separate debug version - any error it generates would be emitted on to your browser as you see now.

Thanks dollars5 - It turns out that PHP5 was not up and running. It did not work with php4, but when I moved to php5, all is well. Cheers!
