Check out the demo for "Pligg.NET"

As some of you may know, I haven't spent much time with Pligg since back in May when I graduated from College. I got a job as an ASP.NET developer. Recently, I was thinking, what better way to learn ASP.NET/VB.NET then to convert Pligg to it, hence the code name "Pligg Dot Net" For those not familiar, Pligg is written in PHP.

I spent the last week and a half building the front end. Since I've only spent a week and a half on this there's no back-end management that you can demo quite yet

If you want to play around with the demo you can view it here: PliggDotNet.com Feel free to play around, submit stories etc etc. Any comments would be helpful

With the time that I had I tried to incorporate as many features as I could. Obviously, I couldn't get them all. It's only two weeks old and Pligg is 2 years I plan on continuing to develop this in my free time. Note: This has nothing to do with Pligg version 1.0, 2.0 etc. This is something I've just done in my spare time.

Yes, I wrote the entire thing in .NET 3.5 and then was too cheap to buy web hosting (which I just did about 10 minutes ago) so I redid it in 2.0 to use the free host. I don't think I was using any 3.5 functionality at the time anyways.

It's using SQL 2005 for the database.

I'm impressed. Great work. I'm mainly a .NET guy myself.

If you ever want to check the status of the project I've purchased the domain http://www.pliggdotnet.com and will be putting the latest version up there every day or so, depending on how much time I have to work on it. If this turns into an open source thing I'll try to get a project running on sourceforge.

Let me know if you put it up on sourceforge. I'd consider helping in the development.

I just created a Sourceforge Project and am waiting for approval. It can take 1-3 days.

This is a vacation time and many OSS project members usually go on a trip this season - may be that is the reason. But the official mail and message displayed on submit states it usually takes 1-3 days (when i created a project - it took only 2 hours to get approved)
