Ah yes, that's a good write up by our lead programmer. Interesting stuff.

The first comment to that post asked a question and got an interesting response. When I learned that pligg was Affero licensed, I was pretty confused about it. If I were to start a pligg site, would I also need to make changes available to users?

Not to the code that you create. Anything you change within the source that you intend to distribute you should allow for download. I suppose this would include our hooks into the authentication stuff and some of our bug fixes but not really any of the custom stuff.

We probably wont have time to release any paid templates or free ones. We pretty much will only have time for custom templates and/or other development work.

It really stretches our time thin to focus on one theme so we would rather have it be one of a kinda for one client. I tried to build out a free template in the past, but as always client work got to become to overwhelming and I had to scrap it.

Would you be so kind as to let us know what you changed here?

I've been having a tonne of issues with URL2... e.g. just noticed today that navigating pages in the upcoming section doesn't work.

cheers

Honestly it would be really hard to just pull out one section and say what it would cost. Also out of respect for the clients I wouldn't really want to disclose any project costs on an open forum. Its just not good business and Im sure you understand.

Im sure there are some things we will give back to pligg that we have figured out along the way. Some of the mods are really custom for the client, but the fixes should be something that everyone can use. The biggest issue here is that a lot of this is from a really early build of pligg and so some things might now really mesh well with newer versions.

As savant said - it would be great if you could share some of the Pligg optimizations of the code.

Good work btw.

This has been an interesting thread. The link to 'pligg vs drupal' was very helpful.

While I like both platforms, my challenge has been finding programmers who know how to work with Pligg, as well as, finding full documentation so I can personally understand what pligg can do 'out of the box', as well as, it's potential for expansion (in the hands of the right programmer).

I still want a Pligg site...so I'll hold out a big longer...but think this thread has made me realize I might need to stick with Drupal
