@ Dollar5

But what are you trying to sell?

If it is not the code nor a theme site (like Meneame has) what do you have to sell?
Pligg.com doesn't have anything except a homepage, a documentation wiki (closed) and a support forum for the product!

This community is huge and is here until this product is Free (as in Freedom and as in beer) OR do you have the illusion of any other thing?

Mambo did a wrong move and they are still paying for it today. And they had a huge, huge community and many businesses that rely on the software.

And Mambo was one of the first real simple Content Management Systems made by a real nice Australian company that was a closed source app that turned GPL.

You have other cases studies that you should look up first and that are also companies and their main product is a Free Software under GPL and freely downloadable. Take a peek at ezPublish's ez.no company and see how would they earn money to hire those talented developers and staff.

This community is huge....
It's a brand with a huge community, a homepage, support forum and a documentation wiki.

And with a small financial injection it could become much bigger. Just like Joomla (i donated lots of money to those guys, just like many in the Joomla community) and other OSS-es that had a financial injection. Mambo tried, but did it the wrong way and died.

But Pligg is working on a 100% meneame free code base (pligg2.0) and could become even waaaaaay better if it had a full time developer (ash). Some one should just give that guy a salary so Pligg can become bug free and much faster (pligg 2.0 is 100x faster then pligg 9.7 at the moment isn't it?). So why not a VC/buyer?

I don't care about the money (i won't see any of it), but i DO care about the future of Pligg because i've put a lot of time in it. And a lot of people here have....

This thread / topic is starting to turn into a flame war so I'm closing. Please direct any questions to ashdigg@gmail.com. I will attempt to respond to all questions and make an official FAQ.

Sometimes to get attention you need to make noise. Although Pligg is listed for sale that does not mean that it is the only option that we are pursuing, but it's the one we thought would gather the most attention. I myself have spent almost 2 years with this project and I am not looking to just 'cash out and turn my back'. We are in talks with many people regarding the financial status of Pligg, and continue to receive more offers. We are keeping Pligg's best interests in mind. We don't know 100% what will happen yet because we are talking with many different people.

Unless anything is confirmed by myself or yankidank, it is considered hearsay.

thank you.
