integrating pligg to wordpress

I am interested in adding pligg to the same page as a wordpress blog. I am building a content portal and using WP as the front-end CMS. What I would like to do is be able to include ocntent from pligg right from the same front page. In practice I assume that I woudl need to add some PHP include statements to the top of the wordpress index page, and add some function calls to the relevant section of the template where the actual output would go.

Does anyone have any advice on how best to go about this?
