Lightbulb Step By Step Template Modifications

Hi all, I would like to start a simple step-by-step guide for changing a template on pligg. Let's start a step by step list of the things you change and in which order. I am a newbie at this, but I think if every user can submit one post, I will continually edit this post to update a logical order to changing or making a template. I'll start it off with what I know so far:

STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO MAKING (MODDING) A TEMPLATE

1. Design and develop a style sheet you like.

2. Locate the "/templates" section in your pligg directory(not on the server, but in your comp).

3. Open pligg.tpl and begin making changes to the divisions or tables while being sure to include the smarty tags.

4...
5...
6...
7...
8...
9...
10...

Anyone that would like to contribute is welcome. Thanks, Jay

its not that hard if you are familiar with site design.

just do the design in photoshop or whatever app you use for graphic design and slice it to html.

make a copy of the mollio template for example.
replace the images and css with yours.
if you use dreamweaver, open pligg.tpl & the html you created in "code mode".
start replacing the html with your html code. do the same for the rest of the .tpl files as you watch how it looks in the browser...

EDIT: I was too lazy to pay attention before my first post.

Template editing is pretty intuitive, as mentioned earlier in this post. However, it should be noted that the actual text on one's Pligg site (pretty important when customizing) can be edited via admin panel>modify language (http://www.pligg.com/forum/showthrea...ht=pligg+home).

This was a significant oversight on my part because I mistook the "modify language" option as relating to...modifying the language of the site.

Cheers
