yes, that's fUGLY!

I see a couple of folks were talking about a 'skidoo too'-based template a month or so ago. and it looks like that's what we've got now.

my 2¢: we've taken one of the most important web 2.0 concepts (social bookmark/editing/voting - digg) and given it a horrible, circa-1999, php-nuke look. if you wade through all the sites at http://www.mashable.com/weblist/, you won't find anything that ugly.

in the end of course, the Smarty system is a good move, and it's fairly straightfoward to apply new templates. and the functional progress being made here (Pligg) is great. I just hope that post about a mollio.org based template plays out soon.

Hey guys, quit complaining. If you are wanting a nice Web 2.0 template so bad make it yourself. Sort of pisses me off to hear so many complaints with so little help to actually improve Pligg. And yes, mollio is in the shop. Still a couple glitches with the text size and the footer placement in Firefox when there isn't enough content in the center to match the length of the sidebar.

Current Test Site:
http://www.dailyyank.com

Currently all submitted articles are not working because of a database error. I've been up all night and I screwed something up. I'll fix it later.

To Do List:

General:
Set minimum height to prevent sidebar from overlapping footer.
Fix font size problem.
When data is updated, make it appear inside the body not on top.

Sneak:
Get it to work.

Header:
Fix search bar and go button position
Get dropdown menu to work in IE
Make Pligg Logo look decent

Register Step 1:
White space to the left of username.

Register Step 2:
Validation is not in the table header. No red background.

Pages numbers (html1 do_pages):
Clean it up visually.

Tag Cloud:
Clean up header table (half the height).

Submit story:
Hasn't been touched yet...
Stylize "news source" and "original news URL:"

Link Summary:
Finish stylying.

apologies. I'm sure my comment didn't come off well. with all that's available, the skidoo too choice seemed an odd one - but that doesn't lessen how I feel about Prigg or the work you've been doing -> appreciated.
Hopefully I will find some time to adapt an open source design to a template.

We're all for critisism here, helps us make a better product, as long as it's constructive. So you think it sucks, thats cool, thats your opinion, but offer some suggestions man!

My problem is left brain / right brain. I'm left-brained. I can make it work, but can't make it look "good" to save my life. I was happy with skidoo at first, but over time it's progressing into something that even I don't like (http://ashtest1.pligg.com). This is one of the reasons for the template contest.

why not ask a well known designer to design one default skin for pligg, i think there are many designers welling to help in open source project like pligg maybe for full free or just some credit "designed by XXX"

from this default skin we can have so many new skins

like phpBB subblue.com design the default skin "SubSilver" and 100s new skins come out shortly

No, we're keeping it just for ourselves.

Of course we're going to share it, once it's ready, but like he said, its still "in the shop".

Hi Ash,
the mollio template looks awasome. Great work!
I have a comment on navigation. I think, you're hiding the most important items in the Tools-subnavigation. My recommendation:
Tabs:
- Home
- Top stories
- Queued Stories
- Submit Story
- Pligg Live
- Top users
- Tag cloud

For the rest (Login, Register, Bug Report): I would expect these items in a less important place, like as a text navigation in top left corner like at meetup.com.
This seems more intuitive to me.

Thanks for sharing this great software with us, by the way!
