For 9.5, yes, thats it. There are many changes that are coming for the next release (v1.0) and some of the template developers are waiting for that.

It would be nice, but unfortunately updating all the older templates probably would have delayed the release of 9.5 till sometime after summer.

Working with one template in this release, allows us to strip the last php out of the .tpl files and make pligg much more accessible to templating.

This will also allow "you" the user to update your pligg installation without having to make massive template changes. A complete separation of core and template.
Everyone will benefit from that.

We've also been toying with some new features for 1.0 like a pligg heat map, where you can see each mouse click on a transparent color overlay on your site. Also automatically pulling a subscribers content from several other "user submitted" sites, ie. delicious, reddit, netscape, etc.. That way each signup brings new content into your site..

Still more to come, but I think I can discuss those features without letting the so called "cats" out of the bag.

Keep Pliggin'

Smile I second that

I agree, "if you build it - we will come". The core is key.

If you build the kind of functionaility like (heat maps, SN or link management) into the core, the templates will flood in, because we all need templating and we will all be using Pligg.

There are several well worn threads around (sitepoint etc) that have been in existance since June 06, where people are baying out for the right software base for their "mashups", for lack of a better word.

It is just hard to wait - as most of us are looking to build communities, time is of the essence and we can not risk starting it on the wrong software.

The key to the killer app is the core. We can all make it look sexy later.

I got adavice for you guys, don't wait. I was waiting for LiquidSky template as an author said he will be releasing it very soon. One day I decided to try my own templates. I went to oswd.org, choose the template and tried to port it into yget. Well it's not so easy but it is easy and you will have your very own pligg, not like others. Now I got my own template and LiquidSky is still in progress.
