Monetize Your Pligg Site With Interstitial Advertising

Interstitial advertising works like this..
After a visitor views a certain number of pages (set by you) The user is displayed one paid advertisement with instructions to continue to the content requested.

Interstitial advertising is paid by display and not pay per click.

How to add Interstitial ads to your pligg site.

1. Go to Adbrite and signup for an account.

2.Create an adzone and select Interstitial and customize the header if necessary.

3. Open pligg.tpl in your template and add the adbrite code just before </body> at the bottom of the page.

It will take up to 24 hours for your ads to start showing.

Enjoy your checks

Hi Chuckroast

Their Web site doesn't display any information on how much they pay out, $/impression, etc.

Could you provide some ballpark stats?

Thanks

It depends on a number of factors but from my own statistics the payout can be anywhere from $0.001 to $0.50 per display. The reason why I started using them is because it doesn't conflict with Adsense's TOS since it's not contextual. Meaning you can run both ad services on the same site. Also you don't need to wait till you reach something like $100.00 until they start paying out. You can set the minimum check amount.

adbrite blows I used them for a while now. I have over 30,000 impression and I made 1.97 USD

Also just so you know Interstitial ads take over your whole page! Not just a little bit they literially take over 100% of the page leaving your viewers with nothing to see but the add.

If you want an example I use it on Album Votes / Published Albums and Flick Votes / Published Movies

maybe if I have 60,000 impression I would be at 3.00USD

me too but I still get these ad names mixed up

EDIT: added stuff

One thing I do like about adbrite is the ability to control and manage specific zone. This can be beneficial seeing you can make sure your ads are working and also see the performance difference for specific ad placements options. I wish Google would offer this!

Like I said, it depends on a number of factors. One being the quality of content. You must not have very good content. Meaning none of the advertisers want to advertise on your site, which is where you receive the higher payout. Your clearly running "Run of network" ads which payout considerably lower.
You also have it set up to only show the ads after 6 pageviews. You'll make nothing with that since the content isn't good enough to keep people on the site for 6 pages. If you set it to show after 1 pageview you would obviously make more. That site also has a pagerank of Zero which will also earn you considerably less.

I had a look at the album site just to see how the adverts worked, but from my own point of view, and if I was surfing a site, as soon as I saw those adverts start appearing, I would surf away..

For me, the adsense type adverts are better, if something catches your eye, you click.. The advert I just watched was annoying, had to click to close.. so click close, and go away.

but that is just my opinion..
